Management Center Turkey (MCT) has broken a new ground in its sector and become the first company in Turkey to carry all its work processes to Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Carrying out activities as the official representative of Management Centre Europe, the biggest and most extensive Management Development Centre in Europe, and acting as the central office of four MEMC (Middle East Management Centre) offices in the Middle East and North Africa, Management Center Turkey is performing its financial operations in all countries with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It has also become very easy for MCT to track the financial performance of all countries individually or in a consolidated manner by conducting analyses according to multiple countries, consolidation and dimensions. Thanks to the detailed approval mechanisms developed, top management’s capacity to control work processes has increased. Planning to commission also the CRM module of Microsoft Dynamics NAV in near future, MCT has opened its trainings to the access of its customers through Share Point portal. In this way, it is easy to track information such as the training participants, number of attendees, the trainer responsible for the training and training agenda.
Status
Founded in İstanbul in 1992, Management Centre Turkey (MCT) provides Management Development and Training Services to the business world in Turkey at high standards. Having the identity of an international organization, MCT carries out activities as the official representative of Management Centre Europe, which is the biggest and most extensive Management Development Centre in Europe. MCT’s areas of expertise comprises “Company Specific Training Consultancy, Organizational Development and Human Resources Management Consultancy.” Aiming to have a business that leads the global business world instead of trying to catch up with it, MCT is among the strongest training consultancy companies in Turkey with its wide range of services. The company provides Company Specific Training and Consultancy Services and Manager Conferences, which are organized in important venues across the world with international participation. MC is also the central office of five MEMC (Middle East Management Centre) office in Middle East and North Africa. Every year, the company organizes 780 training programs and conferences, which are attended by 18 thousand managers in total. MCT consultants organize training programs in Middle East and Turkic Republics, particularly in Turkey.
Planning to celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2007, MCT has decided, after years of growth in training consultancy sector, local packages or eclectic solutions offered by the centre in foreign markets, are not meeting their needs anymore. Erhan Feridun, Finance Director of MCT emphasizes that what they need is a solution, which is capable of managing not only financial processes such as finance, but all the processes, and says: “We started to look for an ERP solution, through which we could manage all of our processes. The solution in question had to be an ERP package that is suitable for medium-scaled organizations like us.”
Solution
MCT believes in continuous learning and development because of the natural characteristics of the sector in which it provides services. Erhan Feridun, Finance Director of MCT, states that the same perspective applied to the technological infrastructure of organizations, and they realized that they could reach to a new dimension by making use of the infinite possibilities of computer technologies after being introduced to a new world particularly through the process of switching to ERP, and says: “The organizations in their initial start-up process may make a technological investment, say make an investment in ERP, and think that they are all over and done with it. We know that there is no end to technology, and we need to continually develop not only ourselves but also our technological infrastructure. Among all the other software we reviewed, we realized that Microsoft Dynamics NAV opens up new horizons for our company. We understood that we will provide a much better service to our customers and work far more efficiently with our current resources with this system, especially after Microsoft announced its new policy related to Microsoft Dynamics products. This infrastructure will also be very helpful for our expectations for the future.”
Erhan Feridun explains that they are planning to establish a Share Point Portal with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and turn it into a platform where they can share their databases with their customers. Customers will have an environment where they can find the information they search by means of a web-based infrastructure, and track the training contents, and the trainings they have received on the portal.
Erhan Feridün, Finance Director of MCT states that the next stage for the company with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is to receive online reports by means of Microsoft Enterprise Reporting. With Microsoft Dynamics NAV, MCT aims to take the first step to establish an infrastructure in which 2006 Microsoft Office system and reporting tools are integrated with this system, to which internal users of the company and international partners can login online, and which is supported by Share Point portal. Erhan Feridun emphasizes that, this is the reason why they are aiming at a long-term collaboration with Microsoft: “This is such a beginning that, after what we aimed for, the thing we can do are only limited to our imagination. MCT regards Microsoft as a business partner to walk together with on its road to the future.”
Why Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution?
Erhan Feridün states that the flexibility provided by Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and its adaptability to their needs, is unrivalled in terms of its upgradability. In addition to its modular structure, the possibility to procure it segment by segment and easy customization, were the main reasons why they preferred Microsoft Dynamics NAV for an ERP package.
Microsoft also helped MCT to find the solution partner that they could work with. As a result of a series of meetings held with PargeSoft, a Microsoft solution partner, the fact that two companies spoke the same language made it easier to understand the expectations of MCT clearly and presenting the action plans clearly. After a process of a few months, the project became feasible. There were now new stages ahead, because MCT’s expectations were reshaped in this process. Erhan Feridün explains this as follows: We knocked PargeSoft’s door again with new expectations, wishes and an enthusiasm for the new horizons. After reorganizing certain aspects, we started working to implement another project that would expand as the spiralling of a rock thrown into water.
At this stage, they are about to operate Microsoft Dynamics NAV’s project module with a seminar module designed solely by PargeSoft and a web based user interface.
Erhan Feridun draws attention to the fact that training contents are developed completely specific to the companies, and they are not developing open software. 18 of the organizations in the first 20 are MCT customers and are directly providing service to these companies. After training programs are determined, information such as the names of persons who will attend the training are entered by the companies through this web based user interface. Latest status of the training programs, updated list of participants, location of the training number of attendees, trainer’s name and agenda titles can be viewed online for each event. If required, it is possible to add mini videos related to the previous training program. As a result, it will be possible to make use of all the benefits of the technology in this department.
Benefits
MCT is not only a training company, it also comes to the forefront with its consultancy functions. Therefore, project costs are very important for MCT. Erhan Feridün states that the support of Microsoft Dynamics NAV and their consultant was very valuable in tracking the project costs and taking financial decisions in due course: “Factors that determine the cost of a project are very important for us. Microsoft Dynamics NAV shows us the net profitability of a project clearly. And accordingly, we can take much more accurate decisions about how we should proceed with the project. In addition to this, our most important asset is to manage humans and our human resources, we are now at ease about how to benefit from our human resources at the right place and in the right time.”
Erhan Feridün states that they are also planning to activate Microsoft Dynamics NAV’s CRM module, and expect to have further benefits in customer satisfaction: “We will have completed the actual picture after activating CRM module. Apart from customer relations, I can say that it helped us see clearly where we are among all the other benefits we have achieved in the last two years. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is the ideal tool for eliminating problems in any growing company, and it helps us significantly to evaluate our financial status. We have also obtained significant benefits in reporting. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is perfectly suited for organizations like us, which consolidates several companies and business units on an international scale. The system has a consolidation package for this purpose. In addition to this, it is very important to know that an international technological giant like Microsoft stands behind Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It is a big advantage to allow our offices abroad to adopt to this system easily.”
The transition to Microsoft Dynamics NAV allowed MCT to save in our resources beyond any comparison with the past. Optimum management of time, finance and human resources makes a remarkable impact on profitability and competitiveness since it is directly related to the costs.
